Normal conventional nightclubs and discos are virtually non-existent
in Venice. There are a few places such as Piccolo Mondo which
offers dancing untill 4 a.m and student-oriented osterias Agli
Ormesini and Paradiso Perduto are open till 2 a.m
Venice however is different. Why not take a moonlit stroll through
the city’s meandering streets. Although the city can appear
dark it is very safe with relativly a low crime rate. Walking the
streets at night is a particular treat during Carnival when the
entire city is in costume. Nigh time also offers the advantage
of being much less crowded and very few annoying tourists that
appear all over the place during the daytime.
In Italy, much social life centres on the squares. Check out Santa
Margherita, in student-central Dorsoduro. This is a buzzing spot
with lots of bars and activity. Many restaurants also open quite
late in Venice so you can always dine late and enjoy some locally
produced wine.
Venice however is simply not the place to visit if you want to
dance from dusk till dawn. It is a city that offers a unique experience
and is a getaway from other party cities.
