Getting to Venice

There are three main ways to get to Venice:

By car: travel the road bridge connecting Venice with the mainland where you will find there are different places to park. Tronchetto Island, for example has ample large car parking facilities. The Palafenice Theater has been temporarily erected to replace the Fenice, which was seriously damaged by fire in 1995, is also located here. Check out parking rates first as there are several parking facilities with different prices especially if you go straight into Piazzale Roma. Again we are happy to recommend www.car-rental-24-7.com if you plan to hire a car for your Italian trip.

By plane: from Marco Polo Airport and then either by road or water by public or private transport (land or water bus or taxi) to Piazzale Roma or St. Mark’s. Venice always has been a very popular tourist city so is easily accessable from most major worldwide airports.

By train:From the railway Station “Santa Lucia”, a large building at the beginning of the Grand Canal in the sestiere of Cannaregio. Close to the train station is the Ponte degli Scalzi the third and last bridge crossing the Grand Canal. Travelling by train in Italy is a pleasant experience if you enjoy scenery.
