Doge’s Palace

Doge’s Palace is a wonderful example of Gothic architecture! It was built with the materials imported from the colonies of the Venetian Republic and spans over 1000 years in time. During the Renaissance period the building was changed. Changes included the construction of the impressing "Giants' Stair", made by Antonio Rizzo. It was the center of the executive and legal power as the "Sala del Maggior Consiglio", "Sala del Senato" and the "Sala del Collegio". This impressive building now houses precious paintings by Tintoretto, Tiziano and Veronese. Why not take a tour of the ancient prisons where Casanova "lived" for some years before escaping. No visit to Venice is really complete without seeing Doge’s Palace.
